Work: Not much I can write here.... just got back after being out sick. I did send out our snow flake announcement (it really talks about weather-related emergencies) converting it from Publisher to Adobe Acrobat. Everything was fine except the link didn't work. Everyone in HR could access it but the rest of the 1400 employee's couldn't! Talk about a lot of emails on that one. I quickly sent out another email with the attachment rather than the link. Turned out since all of HR files are secured that means my link needs to be in a public folder (which we don't have) - and my practice email to Rich did not warn me of the impending failure. Learned from that mistake - I hate it when that happens!

Home: Sick Sick Sick! I'm sure it was from either lunch or dinner on Monday. It just took so darn long to get it up - almost 24 hours later. So I got to basically feel like everything was sitting at my throat with my stomach in knots all that time with drinking only fluids. I'm starting to feel really hungry right now though. My sister is just about finished her Christmas shopping and I haven't even started - not fair! AND after much thought I also need to give my mom (and a wee bit to Bernie) much credit on encouragement for getting me back in school. Went to dinner with Debbie and her new boyfriend on Saturday. He seems nice (still too early to tell). Had a nice time - then she came over Sunday and we went to Harford Mall.

Dan: We are supposed to be going to a ribbon cutting ceremony in downtown Baltimore for one of the companys Dan works for on Saturday night (a job they finished). Ughh, I hope I'm feeling 100% by then.

Marine Corps Birthday

Work: Today is the Marine Corps Birthday! How do I know this? My supervisor has drilled it in my head! He's a Marine (or was a marine). I'm learning how his management style goes along, a bit, with being a marine. For instance.... he believes that you should WORK towards getting promoted (most staff feel they should just be promoted). Do not go out of the chain of command or he is not a happy supervisor. He likes a clean orderly environment - so no messy desks! AND he views his staff as his "unit" so to speak. I actually agree with him on all points and enjoy working with him. I'm not sure he realizes his influence of getting me back in school and attending these Career Workshops. Maybe when I'm finished I'll thank him for that final push. One more plus, I have not heard or seen him yell at anyone (frustrated yes). You usually know when he's mad though - you can hear him coming down the hall (or marching literally).

Rich's staff
(NO! I have yet to learn how to rotate the picture - besides its fun imagining you trying to turn sideways to look at it)

I also have 3 brother-in-laws that were in the marines. Rocky, Terry, and Bill. I guess these next two days will be days to think of our family or friends who have served the country even if some people don't agree with war.

Dan: Did I tell you he got two - YES TWO - remote controlled helicopters? It's interesting to watch him try to fly them (he's crashed them a few times - pretty funny). He even let me try one even though I could tell it killed him to watch - he actually thought I would wreck it can you believe that! I didn't - I flew it fine thank you very much. Dan has always liked helicopters (wanting to be a pilot) and even made me fly in them over Disney and the Grand Canyon (it was fun - I like it better than the airplanes).

Home: It's finally getting cold. We are probably going to be bringing wood down to the house this weekend and at some point cutting wood (we're getting a little low). I hate the bugs - maybe they'll be dead! We also got the snowmobile's ready for winter last weekend (Terry and I went to the store while the guys worked on them). Now I need to invest in a warm ski jacket and pants (the old one's don't fit). Chickens are fine - winter is coming though and I know the fox will be looking for food - I definately will have the gun ready and WILL GET that fox this year if it tries to get my chickens. I'd still like a goat.
